Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora with the Revs. Sheryl and Chris Kester-Beyer officiating. Burial will be at Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements. He was born Dec. 7, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Willard and Anita (Day) Rieke. On June 10, 1962, he married Karen Hellbusch in Gilead. Survivors include his wife; his father of Aurora; son, Randy of Lexington; daughters, Robyn Schultheiss of Kearney and Roxann Holliday of Arlington; sister, Susan Moxham of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Additional survivors include his daughter-in-law, Kellie of Lexington; sons-in-law, John Schultheiss of Kearney and Gregg Holliday of Arlington; brothers-in-law, Ron Moxham of Lincoln and Norman and wife Juleen Hellbusch of Monument, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Dawn Kendall and husband, Roger, of Reynolds. He grew up in Chester and graduated from Chester High School in 1960. He attended Fairbury Junior College and graduated from Kearney State College with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. He was an accomplished athlete in high school and college. He coached and taught school for 12 years at Campbell, Benkelman, Adams Central in Hastings and Tecumseh. In 1976, he joined LeDoiyt Land Management, where he worked until 1997. He worked briefly for Hertz Management until he began RGA Farm Management & Realty in 2001. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, serving on the church council. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was past president of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, and he served on the Aurora Country Club Board of Directors. He was a member of the Aurora Rotary Club and numerous professional farm management and insurance organizations. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family.
