Lone Tree Reporter, Thursday, November 25, 1926: Thankful A. Hiler, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hiler, was born August 3, 1855, in Louisa county, Iowa, and departed this life at Iowa City, October 31, 1926. She was united in marriage to James L. Evans, November 9, 1874, at Lone Tree, Iowa. To this union were given three children, Anna W. Cline, who preceded her mother in death, thirteen years, Kittie B. Blain of Omaha, Nebraska and Glee L. Evans of Columbus Junction, Iowa. Mrs. Evans embraced the Christian religion when a young woman, and united with the Christian church. She afterwards transferred to the Methodist church, of which she has been a member for some forty years. She was n member of the Rebekah lodge, the Relief Corps and the Daughters of Veterans. Mrs. Evans leaves, besides her children, a brother, S. Hiler of Lone Tree, a half brother, Charles M. Catt, of Hawardon, Iowa, and two grand children, besides other more distant relatives. She had declined in health for several years, but her condition was not considered serious till her death came suddenly and unexpected. Her age at the time of her death was 71 years, 2 months and 28 days. There were services held at the undertakers parlors at Iowa City, by the Rev. W. C. Keeler of the First M. E. church, and by the Rebekah lodge. Final services were held at the M. E. church at Lone Tree, by the pastor Rev. C. C. Goltry at 2.00 p. m. Wednesday and burial made in cemetery at Lone Tree
