Description	:	Thelma A. Monson was born on a farm near Forest City, Iowa, on November 13, 1899, the daughter of Henry 0. and Thone (Mikkelson) Harrison. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She taught in rural schools in Hancock and ... Read More	Thelma A. Monson was born on a farm near Forest City, Iowa, on November 13, 1899, the daughter of Henry 0. and Thone (Mikkelson) Harrison. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls, Iowa. She taught in rural schools in Hancock and Winnebago counties. On May 27, 1921, she was married to Melvin S. Monson in Albert Lea, MN. The couple made their home on a farm in Mount Valley Township until Melvin's death on July 8, 1969, at which time Thelma moved to Lake Mills. She was an active member of Winnebago Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies' Aid. She entered the Lake Mills Care Center in 1984. She died there on December 22, 1990, at the age of 91 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-l aw, Genevieve and Joel Holtan of Forest City. Also, four granddaughters, Alice Holland and JoAnn Tordoff, both of Glennville , MN., Marlys Andersen of Rake, IA., and Carole Kettwick of Buffalo Center, IA., two grandsons, Valere and Noel Holtan, both of Forest City , a sister, Mrs. Emma Rygmyr of Lamberton, MN., 15 great-grand children and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, three sisters, Tillie, who died in infancy, Ida Harrison and Marie Donohue, 4 brothers, Albert, Oscar , Eddie and Henry Arthur and a great-grandson, Tyler Kettwick.
