Description	:	Thelma B. Braun, 94, a resident of Leavenworth for the past 58 years, died Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2002, in the Parkside Healthcare Center in Wenatchee. She was born Thelma B. Hamilton on Sept. 24, 1907 to Charles and Ellen (Strawn) Hamilton at New Virginia, IA, where she grew up and received her early education. Braun, 94, a resident of Leavenworth for the past 58 years, died Sunday afternoon, May 5, 2002, in the Parkside Healthcare Center in Wenatchee. She was born Thelma B. Hamilton on Sept. 24, 1907 to Charles and Ellen (Strawn) Hamilton at New Virginia, IA, where she grew up and received her early education. Following school, she worked as a housekeeper for a large household for several years. On Oct. 11, 1943, she married Alvin W. Braun at Des Moines, IA. In 1944, they moved to Leavenworth. In 1946, together with Alvin's brothers, Harry and Walter Braun, they owned and operated the River Terrace Cafe, Service Station and Motel. For several years, Thelma also worked for R.B. and Frances Field. Following the deaths of Alvin and his two brothers, Thelma and her sister-in-law continued to operate the business until 1968, when she sold the business and the Motel became Bindelstiffs. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Snay of Yankton, SD and Genevive Fischer of Lake View, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; including Dorothey Elder of Sacramento, CA and Darlene Welz of Cerritos, CA. Special friends, Lila Jorgensen; Veronica Bickel and Jim and Barbara Bowles. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957, three brothers, Franklin, Ralph and Kermit Hamilton, five sisters, Lina Lowery, Clara Dean, Wilma Schiffer, Ruby Perry and Bess Rankin. A Graveside Service of Commemoration to Celebrate the Life of Thelma B. Braun, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, May 16, 2002 at the gravesite in the Mt. View Cemetery, with Pastor Bob Jackson, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 15, 2002, from 1 to 7 p.m. in the Ward's Funeral Chapel. Ward's Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
