She died as a result of being hit by a vehicle while in a crosswalk on Forest Hills Drive near the Forest Hills Shopping Centre on October 8, where she sustained massive brain injuries, never regaining consciousness. She was born on January 4, 1946, in East River Point, a daughter of the late Bruce and Minnie (McInnis) Cook. She will be remembered and sadly missed by Druce, her husband of 39 years; her daughter, Melanie (Terry Corkum) and granddaughter Megan, Lawrencetown, Halifax Co. Thelma was the last of seven children, predeceased by her brother, Winton, who was killed in action in the Second World War. She is survived by her brothers, Harvey (Madge) and Fred; sister, Frances Miller, all of East River Point; her sister, Rita Meisner, of Tantallon; and sister, Muriel Taylor, of Toronto, Ont, and many nieces and nephews. She will be cremated and her ashes will be buried in the family plot in East River Point. The funeral service will be held in St. George's Anglican Church, East River Point, at 4 p.m. Sunday, October 23, with Rev. Jim McCorriston officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia, P.O. Box 8804 Halifax, NS B3K 5M4.
