Read More	Published online Ottumwa Courier 10/13/2006: OTTUMWA — Thelma Kincaid Erhardt, 95, of Ottumwa died Thursday, October 12, 2006, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born April 4, 1911 in Ottumwa to Dr. David Harvey and Nellie Jones Kincaid. She married Samuel O. Erhardt in the home of Thelma‘s brother, Dr. Harvey Kincaid, in Houston, TX on September 7, 1934. A 1929 graduate of Ottumwa High School, she received her BA from the University of Iowa in social studies and worked for 1 1/2 years toward her Masters in early childhood education. She worked for the University of Iowa, IBM and John Morrell and Co. For over 70 years, she was a member of First Christian Church where she served in many positions - her favorite being the organizing of the 70+ parties and the endless hours of joyfully making elaborate party favors. She was a past president of the Ottumwa Women’s Club and planner of their annual flower shows where she won countless ribbons for her arrangements. She was also a Brownie Scout Leader. Her passions included gardening, raising African violets, feeding her neighborhood birds and organizing and hosting weekly bible studies at her home. Survivors include one son, Samuel of Ottumwa; one daughter, Patricia of Peoria, IL... She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel O.; a brother, Dr. Harvey Kincaid; two sisters, Ina Somerville and Naomi Kincaid and a son, David Dale Erhardt. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2006, at First Christian Church with Rev. William Kanne officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation begins after 10:00 a.m. Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home with the family present from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to First Christian Church. Her love of God, family and friends remains a wonderful inspiration to all who knew her. Her wisdom and guidance of 95 years of life will be missed.
