Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens, McKenzie. Brummitt Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cox was born January 14, 1908, in Carroll County. She was a retired school teacher and member of McKenzie Church of Christ. She attended West Tennessee State Teacher's College (later known as Memphis State), where she received a four-year teaching certificate and she eventually earned her bachelor's degree from Bethel College in 1950. Funeral services were Friday, April 21, at McKenzie Church of Christ. Burial followed in Carroll Memorial Gardens, McKenzie. Brummitt Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Mrs. Cox was born January 14, 1908, in Carroll County. She was a retired school teacher and member of McKenzie Church of Christ. She attended West Tennessee State Teacher's College (later known as Memphis State), where she received a four-year teaching certificate and she eventually earned her bachelor's degree from Bethel College in 1950. She began her teaching career in 1926 at a country school called Argo. She married Otis Cox in 1930 and they lived in Clarksburg before moving to McKenzie in 1937. She resumed her teaching career in McKenzie, where she taught for 26 years before retiring. She lived in McKenzie until 2001 when she moved to Hickory Woods Retirement Center in Murray, Kentucky. Just last October, she moved back to McKenzie and was residing at McKenzie Health Care Center at the time her death. She was an accomplished pianist and avid reader. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Cox, a retired school agriculture teacher, principal, and county school superintendent; one daughter, JoAn Cox Mieure; two brothers, Ben Kee, Jr, and Ray Kee and one grandson, William Barry Mieure.
