Description	:	In my research today, Feb. 15, 2022, I discovered that Thelma was not the daughter of my second cousin Leonard Haines and his wife Leona, nee Kinman, Haines! Thelma is listed as the surviving daughter of Leonard Haines in his obit and in his wife Leona, nee Kinman, Haines' obit and as the surviving sister in Leonard and Leona's son, Leonard, in his obit. I found Thelma's obit and it did not say anything about having the maiden name of Haines. I found her finally in the 1940 census as being the niece of Leonard and Leona Haines.... I found Thelma's obit and it did not say anything about having the maiden name of Haines. I found her finally in the 1940 census as being the niece of Leonard and Leona Haines. I discovered that Thelma's mother Pauline died when Thelma was only 4 years old. It would appear that Thelma's father, Frederick Kinman, was not able to raise 3 young children (Thelma had 2 young siblings) on his own and Thelma went to live with her Aunt Leona who was married to Leonard Haines. Leona being Frederick Kinman's sister. Thelma ended up being raised by them as their own daughter and referred to her as their daughter. Obituary- Thelma Marie (Kinman) Pease passed away on January 29, 2015 at her home in Grand Junction, CO, surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 26, 1923 in Coffeyville, Kansas. She grew up in Kansas and Texas. After high school she attended Business College in St. Louis, MO and went to work for Loffland Brothers Drilling Company in Clay City, IL, where she met her future husband, Lee Pease. They married three years later in Vernal, UT, in August of 1945, while following the booming oil industry throughout the West. Lee and Thelma settled in Grand Junction in 1959 after stops in most of the western states and Alberta, Canada. Thelma was especially fond of playing bridge and of telling jokes. She was a lifelong Broncos fan, and enjoyed watching the games with her family and friends. Her husband, Lee, passed away in 1984, and she never remarried, saying, "Why bother? I get to do exactly as I please now". Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. Thelma is survived by two sons, Bill Pease (Kim), of Cedaredge, and Bud Pease (Liz), of Glade Park; five grandchildren: Kristine (Len) Wunderwald, of Palisade, Jamie (Jon) Parker, of Puyallup, WA, Brandon (Bree) Pease, of Fruita, Corey (Laura) Graham, of Fruita, and Chance (Chasity) Graham, of Glade Park; and seven great-grandchildren: Alec, Levi, Eva, Samara, Madelyn, Aubrey and Gracie. A celebration of life luncheon will be held in her honor on Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the VFW Post, 4663 3224 F ¼ Rd. Clifton, CO, 81520.
