Mrs. Dawsey was born in Galivants Ferry a daughter of the late Joseph H. and Rocia Johnson Martin. Mrs. Dawsey was a graduate of Aynor High School Class of 1945, was the first female school bus driver in the district. Mrs. Dawsey attended Limestone College. She was a member of Aynor United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas Circle, Forever Young Group, and served on various committees. Mrs. Dawsey was presented the Citizen of the Year award in 1993 for her outstanding service to the Aynor Community. Surviving are one son: J. Charles Dawsey and wife, Sherry of Aynor; two daughters: Connie D. Thompson and husband, Mike of Marion, and Teresa D. Johnson and husband, Cecil of Aynor; one sister: Josephine M. Vaught of Aynor; seven grandchildren: Marty Dawsey, Allison D. Williams, Kelli T. Noland, Lori Ann Thompson, Michal Lyn Thompson, Rebecca J. Lewis, and Matthew Johnson; three great-grandchildren: Brooke Lewis, Olivia Noland, and Jacob Dawsey. Funeral Services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday from Aynor United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Mardis officiaiting. Burial will follow in Aynor Cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
