Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon for Miss Thelma Roder Porter, 24, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Herbert Porter, this city, who committed suicide Friday night in Washington, where she had been employed as a nurse at George Washington University hospital. Miss Porter was found, dying in a room in the 1300 block of Vermont avenue Friday night. She had rented the room, paying $5 down, under the name of "Mrs. Jones" Friday evening. Carrie and Florence Graves, proprietors of the house, heard groans from the room and forced the door. They found her dying. Police said that on the bureau of the room was a nurses's emergency kit, containing a half-drained phial of poison. On the bed was a novel entitled "Empty House." Emergency hospital attaches pronounced the young woman dead and removed her to the morgue. She was identified there as a nurse at the university hospital and a graduate of its training school in the class of 1931. An autopsy Saturday showed she was soon to become a mother. Coroner A. Magruder MacDonald issued a certificate of suicide. Washington police, in an effort to locate the young nurse's parents, notified Frederick police Saturday and they informed Mr. and Mrs. Porter of the death. They later went to Washington and made arrangements for the funeral and return of the body to this city. Miss Porter was a graduate of Brunswick High School, it was said, where her parents lived before moving to this city. In addition to her parents, Miss Porter is survived by two brothers: J. Albert Porter, Frederick, and Claude Porter, Brunswick. The funeral took place at the home of her parents, 365 West Patrick street, with further services at the Lutheran Church, Brunswick; interment was in Park Heights Cemetery, Brunswick; arrangements were by J.S.
