It was the first day of spring and one day before the anniversary of the death of her husband John, thirteen years ago. Thena was born October 27,1930 in Palisades, Washington, to Stanley and Maude Goldy. She was the youngest of 3 children and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1948. She married John Steffen on April 3, 1949 at the Brethren Church on Okanogan Street. They had 2 daughters, Debbie and Sandy. In their years together, John and Thena worked in the cherry orchard and owned and operated Micro Trickle Irrigation. In summer, they enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends in both the mountains and on the ocean. They traveled extensively across the country visiting many states in their motorhome. In winter, they enjoyed camping and snowmobiling in the North Cascade mountains, Stemilt Basin, Idaho and Montana. Later winters were spent in Yuma, AZ. She was active in the South Wenatchee School PTA and a 4-H club leader, teaching girls cooking and sewing. She was a member of the Stemilt Hill Grange as well as a member of the Roving Grangers. Thena was also a member of the Stemilt Hill Ladies Club and the Apple Country Snowmobile Club. Thena is survived by her daughters, Debbie DeChand (Derek) and Sandy Terry (Rick) all of Wenatchee; granddaughters, Megan Wylde (Pete) of Sedona, AZ, Diana Pieratt (Zach) and Devon Kiedrowski (Kelby) all of Wenatchee; great-granddaughters, Emma and Elsie Pieratt also of Wenatchee; and brother, Doyle "Pat" Goldy of Rock Island. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Steffen; infant daughter, Julie Steffen; parents, Stanley and Maude Goldy; and sisters, Twyla Gormley and Phyllis Goldy. Friends and family may visit Jones & Jones - Betts Funeral Home on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at Jones & Jones – Betts Memorial Chapel, 302 9th Street. Interment will follow at Stemilt Hill Cemetery
