Thompson, and for the past 32 years a resident of Butler Township, died at her home yesterday morning at 9 after three weeks of illness. Mrs. Thompson was born and reared in Laurens County and was 76 years of age. For a number of years following her marriage the family lived in Laurens and Spartanburg counties then settled at the old home in Butler Township where she had since lived. Mr. Thompson's death occurred six years ago. Mrs. Thompson was a devoted member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church where she took an active part in the work being a regular attendant there. The news of her death will cause widespread sorrow among the many friends of the family. Mrs. Thompson is survived by five sons and five daughters: B.F., Harry P., and R.C. Thompson all of this city; B.S. Thompson of Greensboro, N.C.; J.V. Thompson of Woodruff; Mrs. R.H. Taylor and Mrs. D. Henderson of Greenville; Mrs. O.L. Walker of Asheville, N.C.; Mrs. T.G. Mahaffey of Mauldin and Mrs. Ozella Bishop of Butler Township. She is also survived by one brother, G.F. Jones of Anderson: 46 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Rocky Creek Baptist Church at 2 pm conducted by the Rev. Benjamin F. Sorgee and the Rev. A.E. Howard and the interment will take place in the family plot in the adjoining cemetery. Further announcements will be made later from the offices of James F. Mackey & Sons morticians.
