Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.Theodora Jayne "Teddie" (Van Batavia) Schelling was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Hull, Iowa, to Case and Kelly (Leusink) Van Batavia. She received her education through the 10th grade in Hull. On July 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Dick Schelling. They lived in Ireton, Iowa for the first five years of their marriage, after which they moved to Sioux Center.She was a homemaker whose enjoyment came from camping, collecting "Teddy" bears and gospel music. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and actively followed her grandchildren's activities and sports.Survivors include her husband, Dick; a daughter, Gloria (Allen) Hyronemus of Sioux City; a son, Darwin of Sioux Center; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon (Bob) Soodsma of Doon, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Sam) Peterson of Sheldon, Iowa.She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn in 1973; a great-granddaughter, Whittney in 1990; her parents, Case and Kelly Van Batavia; and a brother, Bert Van Batavia.The family requests memorial donations be directed to Cheers Hospice. http://iowagravestones.org/gs_view.php?id=392693 ------------------------------------------------
