Theodore Frances Buchenau was born June 4, 1877, near Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Geo. and Augusta Schultz Buchenau. Following an attack of rheumatic fever about a year ago he has been under the doctor's care. However his death came suddenly on Tuesday, April 16, 1946. He was married to Margaret Paulsen of Brooklyn, Iowa Dec. 20, 1905. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and later transferred his membership to the Grace Methodist church of Brooklyn. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Brooklyn. Mr. Buchenau spent his entire life farming and took a keen interest in the welfare of the community. He has served as president and director of the Poweshiek County Savings Bank since reorganization in the late twenties. He was a trustee of Madison township at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, the children, Edgar Buchenau and Mrs. Vere Osborne and three grandchildren: Bonnie Ruth Buchenau, Theodore Francis Buchenau and Richard Bruce Osborne.
