Theodore Gaillard Pinckney Sr. Obituary Theodore Gaillard Pinckney, Sr. Theodore Gaillard Pinckney, Sr. 96, of Beaufort, SC passed away on August 4, 2013 in Durham, NC. Mr. Pinckney was born in Beaufort, SC on April 16, 1917. He was married to Elizabeth Watson Tandy whom he wed 14 years ago. He served during World War II in the Pacific theater. Following the war, he returned to Beaufort and succeeded his father as owner of the Pinckney Well Drilling Co. He was a life-long member of St Helena's Episcopal Church where he served as Usher, sang in the choir and was member of the Men's Club. He was a member of the Beaufort Lions Club and was very interested in local politics and affairs. He had a passion for antique automobiles. Mr. Pinckney is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his son, Theodore Gaillard Pinckney, Jr. (Susan Eagle) of Atlanta, GA, a sister, Gladys Hay Pinckney of Columbia, SC, a sister-in-law Chloe M. Pinckney of Beaufort, SC, a granddaughter, Lauren Leigh Skinner of Fredericksburg, VA, two grandsons, Mathew Wade Skinner of Fredericksburg, VA and Theodore Gaillard Pinckney, III (Tripp) of Atlanta, GA, numerous nieces, nephews, stepdaughters and stepsons. Mr. Pinckney is preceded in death by his mother, Frasier Dickerson Pinckney, his father Roger Pinckney, IX, 2 brothers, Roger Pinckney X and Robert Pinckney Leak, a sister Sophie Pinckney Fyfe, beloved daughter, Patricia Gail Pinckney and two wives, Winifred Caldwell Pinckney and Francis Stamper Pinckney. Gaillard Pinckney loved Beaufort and truly subscribed to the saying that "a day away from Beaufort is a day lost forever". At Mr. Pinckney's request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Helena's Episcopal Church. The family of Theodore Gaillard Pinckney, Sr. wishes to thank his stepdaughter, Pamela Tandy of Durham, NC for her devoted and loving care of Mr. Pinckney over the past seven years.
