Henry was born in Cardston, May 5, 1914 to Theodore and Else Mandelkow Ehlert. He attended school at Hartleyville for five years and completed his schooling in Magrath. He is survived by three sons: Robert Theodore "Buster" (Helen) of Coleman, Alberta; Richard McBride (Karen) of Houston, Texas and Mark James (Sharon) of Raymond and four daughters: Joanne (Ferrin) Killian of Coleman, Monte Karen (Roger) Rydalch of St. Anthony, Idaho, Kathryn (Robert) Comin of Calgary and Marilyn (Richard) Bischke of Tumbler Ridge, B.C. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Henry is survived by one brother Laurence (Winnie) of Magrath and three sisters: Frieda Broadhead Nelson of Cardston, Marie Merrifield of Castlegar, B.C. and Elenor (Sam) Fowler of Bountiful, Utah. He was predeceased by brothers: Rony, DAvid, Herbert, Curtis, Rex, Owen, Ernst and sisters Clara Cheeseworth, Lucile, and also by a granddaughter, Loren Harper. Henry spent three years in the R.C.A.F. as a wireless mechanic during World War II. In the spring of 1933 Henry and his parents moved to Raymond. Here he worked with his father in the construciton business. Here he met and married Margaret McBride on September 18, 1940. They lived in Raymond until October 1950 when they moved to Lethbridge. Henry was involved in construction, having had plastering contracts on many public buildings including the old Court House, Auxiliary Hospital and the Lethbridge Herald Building as well as many other hospitals and schools throughout Southern Alberta. In 1969 they moved to the Crowsnest Pass where Henry still was involved in building. In 1979 they retired and returned to Raymond where they resided at the time of his passing. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding the office of High Priest. Henry had servied on a Stake Mission and in the Branch Presidency of the Crowsnest Pass Branch. Henry loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Above all he loved his family.
