Description	:	Theodore Herman Monk, age 79, of Newport, went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 24, 1928, to Henry and Pearl Monk in Newport, WA. He grew up and went to high school in Newport and during high school, met the love of his life, Nancy Virginia Eronson. Read More	Theodore Herman Monk, age 79, of Newport, went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 24, 1928, to Henry and Pearl Monk in Newport, WA. He grew up and went to high school in Newport and during high school, met the love of his life, Nancy Virginia Eronson. They were married on October 7, 1950. He served in the military for 2 years in California. Ted and Nancy returned to Newport, WA in 1953. He worked with his brother Frank in Monk Brothers Logging, which they established. Ted spent many years logging and earned much respect from his employees and peers as a hard-working and honest man. He retired from Monk Brothers Logging after suffering a broken hip in 1989. He was very proud to have been a logger and was named "Bull of the Woods" in 2006. Ted and Nancy loved to travel, enjoyed being with friends from REAC and going to their grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid fisherman and took every chance he could get to fish with his sons. Ted was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Always ready to help in any way he could as he was a kind and generous soul and enjoyed people; having never met a stranger. He loved to laugh and tell stories of his youth. Ted was a very spiritual man and an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He earnestly served with his wife, Nancy, in any capacity needed and especially enjoyed serving as a church usher. Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years; five sons; two daughters and husbands; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; his brother; and sisters [survivors names omitted]. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Goldie Swain; and third oldest son, Kevin John Monk. A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Theodore Monk will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2008, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 612 W 1st Street, Newport, WA.
