Bartsch, 80, Minot, ND, formerly of Glendive, MT, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot Theodore Joseph "Ted" Bartsch was born May 16, 1932, the son of Frank and Rose (DeMara) Bartsch, in Detroit, Michigan. Bartsch, 80, Minot, ND, formerly of Glendive, MT, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Trinity Hospital in Minot Theodore Joseph "Ted" Bartsch was born May 16, 1932, the son of Frank and Rose (DeMara) Bartsch, in Detroit, Michigan. At a young age, he and his family moved to Bergen, ND, where they farmed. He attended country school in Bergen and high school in Balfour, ND. Ted worked on the family farm prior to starting his career with the Great Northern Railroad, now the Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1983, Ted was transferred to Glendive, MT, where he continued to work in the round house. He retired in 1994, after 40 years of employment. Following his retirement, he continued to reside in Glendive spending most of his time with his special friend, Emma "Jean" Bartholomew. He also spent a lot of time volunteering for many projects. Ted moved to Minot in August of 2012, due to his health and to be closer to his family. His son, Rick and daughter-in-law, Gina, took care of him in his final months of his long battle with cancer. Ted enjoyed spending time and having a cup of coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed gardening, watching all sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball. He looked forward to family picnics at Strawberry Lake. He was a member of the Glendive Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, Retired Railroad Association, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, all of Glendive. Most recently, Ted became a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Surviving family includes: son, Rick (Gina) Bartsch, Minot; daughter, Sherri Johnson (Jody Luck), Minot; grandchildren, Breanna and Brenden Horn, Shawna (Kelly) Flom, Heather Johnson, and Jayden Luck; great-granddaughter, Peyton Flom; brothers, Francis Bartsch, Minot, Melvin Bartsch, Minot, Robert (Linda) Bartsch, Minot and Arizona, Jim (Celine) Bartsch, Riverdale and Arizona; sisters, Betty Nissen, Minot, Regarda (Jim) Bertsch, Minot and Arizona, Gloria Goodman, Virginia, Kathy (Wendle) Blankenship, Virginia, and a very special friend, Emma "Jean" Bartholomew; former son-in-law, Lance Johnson, Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Carol Bartsch; and brother-in-law, Myron Nissen.
