Description	:	Theodore was the son of Peter & Mary (Aven) Theman. He immigrated to the U.S. around 1883 and married Maggie Trede on 18 Mar 1891 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was a farmer in Pottawattamie co, Iowa until after 1900 and it was here that their four children were born: Ferdinand, Ray, Mildred and Helen B. Theman, in a hospital at Valentine, last Thursday, came as a very sudden shock to this community as the first intimation that he was ill was received last Thursday morning, and that evening R.P. Jones received a call to go to Valentine with his ambulance after the body. Mr. Theman left here a few weeks ago on a vacation trip and to visit a number of relatives. Apparently he was in the best of health. Two weeks previous to his death, in company with relatives, he attended a picnic. Suddenly he stated that he was going home as he did not feel well. Possibly the high altitude and a heart that was none too good affected Mr. Theman. At any rate he drove off the highway while traveling at a high rate of speed (and he was known ordinarily as a slow and careful driver) and into a ditch, breaking a front wheel and knocking him unconscious. He was taken to the home of his son Ferd, near Mission, and remained there for several days but as his condition did not improve he was removed to the Valentine hospital. It was discovered that he had a burst gall bladder and possibly internal injuries. He was known to have a weak heart and he was unable to withstand the added shock of the wreck and the ruptured gall bladder, and passed away last Thursday evening about 9 o'clock. Theodor Theman was born August 12, 1866 at Tonnig, Germany, and died at the Valentine hospital at 10 o'clock Thursday evening, August 18, 1932, at the age of 66 years and 6 days. Mr. Theman was a member of the Congregational church of Spencer since 1918 and was serving on the board of that organization when it closed. He was also a member of Ornan lodge No. 261 of Spencer. Mr. Theman moved to Boyd county, Nebr., in 1908 and established a home six miles northeast of Spencer, and later moved to Spencer where he has made his home until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, on June 30, 1926. He leaves to mourn two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Malcom of Valentine, Mrs. J.M. Casey of Norfolk; one son, Ferd, and four grandchildren of Rosebud, S.D.; one brother, Peter Theman, of Belle Plaine, Ia. Relatives who were present at the services: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Theman, Belle Plaine, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lewis, Modale, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lewis, Council Bluffs, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Hartje, Council Bluffs, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Trede, Mrs. Elmer Trede and Mrs. Herman Strobehn of Treynor, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Leik, Casper, Wyo. The following friends from a distance who were in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Sanders and Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Vickey of Norfolk; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hattig, Bonesteel, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schemm, Mission, S.D. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the United Lutheran church, Rev. Dowler officiating, under the auspices of the local Masonic order. Mr. Theman was made a Master Masonic in 1918, and had held every office in the lodge with the exception of secretary. His record as a willing worker was continuous from the time he joined the order until his death. The pall bearers were Bert Kline and Axel Julen, Bristow; Wm. Alford, Jr., and Wallace Moffett, Lynch; Harry James, Alfred Loomis, Harrison Row and Hans Mathisen, Spencer. Five lodges were represented at the funeral: O'Neill, Butte, Fairfax, Lynch and Spencer.
