GAGE, who died in this city Friday evening, was probably the oldest native born resident of Fairfield. He was a son of the late E. S. GAGE, who came to the little village in December, 1839, when there were less than a dozen families on the town site. Read More	Son of Ebenezer and Electa Gage. -------- Fairfield Ledger August 26, 1896 A Long Life in Fairfield Theodore S. GAGE, who died in this city Friday evening, was probably the oldest native born resident of Fairfield. He was a son of the late E. S. GAGE, who came to the little village in December, 1839, when there were less than a dozen families on the town site. Theodore was born here four years later, August 30, 1844, and his entire life, two years more than a half century, was spent in his native town. His longest absence in that long period of time was four months of army service while a member of Comapny I, Forty-fifth Iowa infantry. Mr. GAGE died from an affection of the lungs. He had been in failing health for a year past, but was confined to his room little more than a month. He was a man of pleasing address and manner, and, while slow to make acquaintance, formed many warm friendships among his associates. Few people have lived in Fairfield during the half century which bounded his life but knew "Tody" GAGE and will learn of his death with regret. Funeral services were held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. GAGE Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.F. Magill and Rev. A.F. Marsh. The remains were interred in the City cemetery.
