Description	:	Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Tuesday, 21 October 1947 An unidentified man was instantly killed one mile west of Cairo about 10:30 o'clock this morning, apparently a victim of eastbound Burlington freight train No. 80, Deputy Sheriff Wilbur Zeiner said today. C., this afternoon in an effort to secure identification. Zeiner said the man possibly fell from one of the cars and struck an air brake connection. The train, which is not scheduled to stop at Cairo, stopped just outside the village at 10:32. The body was taken to Cady mortuary in Cairo but because of the badly mangled condition funeral services and burial will be tomorrow. Officers were unable to make any estimate of the man's age. Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent Thursday, 23 October 1947 Hall county officials have not yet received a report from Washington, D. C., on fingerprints taken from a man whose badly mangled body was found Tuesday alongside the Burlington right-of-way a mile west of Cairo. The man carried no identification and prints were sent to Washington in an effort to secure identification. Private funeral services for the train-accident victim were held late Tuesday at Cairo in the Cady funeral home, with Mrs. Charles Giffen conducting the rites. Burial was in Mount Pleasant cemetery at Cairo.
