Funeral services were held at the Rettig Funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. E. F. Puhlmann officiating and interment was in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed cemetery here. Funeral services were held at the Rettig Funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. E. F. Puhlmann officiating and interment was in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed cemetery here. Casket bearers were Clarence Guhlow, Leslie Guhlow, Stanley Whitman, George Buhrow, Alfred Buhrow and Stanley Buhrow. Mrs. Goodenbour was born June 12, 1874, in Sabor Province, Pomerania, Germany, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Buhrow. In 1876 her parents came to the United States and located on a farm three miles north of Tripoli. She was confirmed in St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church, March 25, 1888, by the Rev. William Kampmeier. On Sept. 4, 1907, she was united in marriage to Michael Goodenbour in St. Peter's church, the Rev. Martin Kleinau officiating. They lived here until 1922, with her husband being employed in the lumber yard. Then the moved to Bremer where he was similarly employed until 1929 when they moved to Waterloo. There they held membership in the Evangelical United Brethren church. Mr. Goodenbour died Aug. 16, 1937. She was provided with a residence in the Western Old People's Home, Cedar Falls in 1954 where she remained until growing feeble she was moved to Christi Convalescent home last June. Surviving are one son, William, Waterloo; two brothers, Frank, Monrovia, Calif., and Henry, Tripoli; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A grandson, Robert, is a member of the Armed Forces in Korea. Transcribed by Linda Hagedorn Finley
