He was married on June5, 1862, to Evaline King, of Lucas county, Iowa who together eight children,Cary O., Iowa A., David L., John R., Jesse L., Nellie., Perry O., and Joanna, are left to mourn his departure. He united with the Christian church in Mahaska county, Iowa before he was married and afterward united with the church at Russell, Iowa and while he neverunited with the church at Confidence he lived a good, upright, honorable life. He was honest and unassuming; he loved the truth and hated falsehood; he was a good neighbor and citizen; a loving husband, a kind father. His life was quiet; he loved peace and the circumscribed world in which he lived was better because he lived. His work was finished. May his children and his children's children emulate his virtues. He presence will be missed by his family and his friends,but they bow in humble submission to the will of Him who doeth all things well. Funeral Sunday at Confidence. All the children were present and all the grandchildren except three from Oklahoma. Interment in Confidence cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Baugh of Russell,Iowa.
