Description	:	Thomas A. "Tom" Birmingham, 99 years of age, passed from this life into everlasting, eternal life June 1, 2007, nine days after the death of his beloved wife, Jean. He was born in Oxford, England, on November 10, 1907, to Walter and Annie (Slaymaker) Birmingham, the middle child of nine. "Tom" Birmingham, 99 years of age, passed from this life into everlasting, eternal life June 1, 2007, nine days after the death of his beloved wife, Jean. He was born in Oxford, England, on November 10, 1907, to Walter and Annie (Slaymaker) Birmingham, the middle child of nine. He went to Canada by ship when he was 14 to meet his older brother, Harry and worked on a farm for over two years to pay back the farmer who had paid his fare. He migrated to the Wenatchee Valley in 1935, where he met and fell in love with Jean Fletcher. They were married July 12, 1936, and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2006. They had two sons, David and Larry Birmingham and one daughter, Nancy Lynn, all of East Wenatchee. He worked in the orchards until he started his own business, Birmingham Landscape and Gardening, which he owned until he retired. He was a member of the First Assembly of God for many years, where he was a deacon, Sunday School teacher and superintendent and also took care of the church grounds. In later years, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wenatchee. He is survived by his two sons, David (Anita) and Larry (Phyllis); one daughter, Nancy Lynn; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews still in England. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean; four brothers; and four sisters; and his son-in-law, Jerry Lynn. Tom and Jean did everything as a couple and after spending 70 years together on this earth, they are now together again in heaven, getting reacquainted with their family and friends who have gone on before them. How the angels must have rejoiced when they carried them both across the river and into the land where there is no sickness or tears. What a reunion. The family would like to express their thanks to everyone who helped make Tom and Jean's last days comfortable; the staff at Highline Convalescent Center, Tracie Carter, P.A., the Hospice Staff, the Chaplains and Ministers who visited them, and Rick and Ann Phillips of Telford's Chapel of the Valley. They also wish to express their appreciation for all the prayers, words of comfort and acts of kindness from friends during this difficult time. If desired, donations may be made to Central Washington Hospital Hospice or a charity of choice. A Graveside Service was held on June 5, 2007, at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. Arrangements were by Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
