Info provided by Luella Hinrichsen FORMER RICHARDSON COUNTY PIONEER DIES Thomas Alvin Guinn, son of Abner and Neurana Aveline Guinn, was born in Salina County, Mo. March 11. 1844. When a young man he answered the call of Abraham Lincoln for volunteers. He joined the 14th Kansas Cavalry and rode out with the Boys in Blue. He served until the close of the war, when he was honorably discharged. After the war he moved to Holt county, Missouri. He was married to Susan Jane Harris, at Nebraska City, December 31, 1865. To this union, ten children were born. They are: Mrs. O. E. Zook of Pueblo, Colorado; Mrs. S. C. Lair, of Pawnee City; Mrs. Rice Page, of Vbor City, Florida; W. M. Guinn of Landusky, Montana; Mrs. A. W. Cotton (deceased) of Oregon, Missouri; O. A. Guinn of St. Anthony, Idaho; F. B. Guinn of Bend, Oregon; Edna Bess, of Pawnee City; Marguerite, of Pawnee City and Mrs. L. W. Collister, of Fairbury, Nebraska. During their early married life they lived on a farm in Richardson county, until in the fall of 1910 they moved to Pawnee City, where he resided until his death, which came Saturday evening, January 10, 1925 at 8:30. When a young man, he united with the Christian church, of which he remained a faithful member, ever ready to look to the abouve and better world. He passed very peacefully away after a short illness of two days, aged 80 years, nine months and twenty-nine days. He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and nine children, one having preceded him to the Great Beyond, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one brother, W. F. Guinn, of May, Oklahoma. Four of the children and one son-in-law were at his bedside at the time of his death and others came in a short time. Two sons and two daughters were unable to be present. A brave soldier, loyal citizen, good neighbor, loving husband and father has gone from this earthly home to the eternal home. The funeral service was held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., January 12 at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. J. R. Hoy. A brief service was held at the home at 1:00 p.m. Miss Amy Clark, Mrs. Potts, Mr. Becker and Mr. Van Horne sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "To the Rock That is Higher Than I," "Will There be Any Stars in My Crown" and "Nearer My God to Thee." The following persons served as pall bearers: Robert Etter, Dr. Smith, Arthur Jacke, Jack Bellows, Joseph Blevins and W. N. Brooks. Interment was made in the Pawnee City cemetery. Members of the G.
