Description	:	Thomas Augustus Mitchem, aged 81, died at his home on Gwynn's Island late Saturday night, following a lengthy illness. He had lived all his life on Gwynn's Island, and was one of the largest fishermen of that part of the county. Mr. Mitchem had taken a lifetime interest in the civic and religious life of Gwynn's Island. Funeral services were held in the Gwynn's Island Baptist church were he had been an active member all his life. Also surviving are thirty four grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren. Interment was made in the family plot of Gwynn's Island Cemetery with the six sons acting as pallbearers.
