Urbana - Nov 9, 1883 The case of Elizabeth Baugh vs Margaret Buckles has been occupying the attention of the court for the past two days. The case involves the willing of a farm to a stepdaughter and the suit is brought to have the conveyance set aside. There were 33 witnesses from the west in attendance, and the case has attracted considerable attention. Urbana Citizen - Nov 15, 1883 The law suit between Mrs Jacob Bains and Mrs Samuel Buckles took a good many of our citizens to Urbana last Thursday. The suit was brought by Mrs Bains to receive her shares in her fathers estate, he, Thomas Buckles, having deeded his farm a few months before his death to his son's wife. The effort was made to show that Mr Buckles was not competent to make a deed. It was surprising to hear the theories propounded by the different witnesses to prove or disprove the competency of the old gentlemen, one witness going to far as to state that in his opinion he had not been competent to transpire business for several years. The Court will no doubt be much enlightened on the particular subject. Urbana - Nov 7, 1887 In the case of Elizabeth Baugh vs Margaret Buckles, to set as deed made by Thomas Buckles during his life time. The case was decided in favor of the Plaintiff and the deed set aside, reversing the finding of the Court of Common Pleas.
