Description	:	"The Herald" (Piedmont, W.Va.), Friday 14 March 1924: "The remains of Thomas Boyland, aged 80 years, who died suddenly at Elk Garden, will be brought here Monday morning on the Western Maryland train and interred in St. Peter's cemetery. Mr. Boyland who resided in Cumberland, went to Elk Garden yesterday on business and died at the Western Maryland station there as he was waiting for the train to return home. The body was taken to his home in Cumberland today. Mr. Boyland resided in this community years ago, moving from here to Elk Garden and later... Friday 21 March 1924: "Breezes from Elk Garden. On Thursday 13 March 1924 Thomas Boylen of Cumberland came to Elk Garden to make arrangements to move to this, his former mountain home. He was at Mr. John Fahey's and started for the railroad station. Mr. Fahey went ahead of Mr. Boylen shoveling a path through the drifted snow. When Mr. Boylen was opposite Mr. Taylor Shears' he became dizzy and was carried into Mr. Shears' house and Doctor Henry was summoned. Death resulted from heart failure in about twenty minutes after the doctor saw him. The body was taken to the residence of Mr. P. F. McNally. Undertaker W. H. Kight took charge of the body. His remains were taken to Cumberland the next day and were interred at Westernport on Monday of this week. Services were held in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Mr. Boylen lived at Elk Garden a number of years, working in the coal mines. His age was 80 years, 1 month and 25 days. He leaves a widow, two daughters and three sons."
