Born in McCormick Aug. 1, 1950, he was a son of Naomi Kirby Jennings DeLoach and the late Herman Jennings. A graduate of McCormick High School and a US Navy veteran, he was employed by American General Insurance Co. A graduate of McCormick High School and a US Navy veteran, he was employed by American General Insurance Co. Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home and his mother and stepfather, Lamont DeLoach of Greenwood, are a daughter, Michelle Nix Wilson and husband, Brad of Lincolnton, GA; two sons, Michael and wife, Ellen Nix of Greenwood and Brenson and wife, Joanna Jennings of Shelby, NC; a sister, Kim Sears and husband, Billy, of McCormick; grandchildren, Jack Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Eliza Nix and Nealie Nix. Being a devoted and caring grandfather, Brent's grandchildren and their friends knew him affectionately as "Big Daddy." Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Rice Memorial Baptist Church, with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery in McCormick. Pallbearers will be Ashley Milling, Jack Keown, Tommy Wall, Robby Thompson, Gippy Cade, Lee Foster, Latham Self and Rick Blackwell. Honorary escort will be Johnny Myers, Bryant Miller, Hugh Schumpert, Butch Sims, Jimmy Dove, Joe Henderson, John Cox, Jimmy Suber, Wayne Shaw and Danny Martin. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The family is at the home on Loblolly Circle and will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baptist International Missions Inc., PO Box 9215, Chattanooga, TN 37412 (please designate for Brenson and Joanna Jennings Mission Work).
