He died in Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio, 01 December 1906. His parents were Peter Leake Ayres (1789–1849) and Eleanor Tandy Holman Ayres (1798–1835). "Deborah “Dora” Scott James Ayres, Burge’s wife, was born 22 February 1830 in Elk Horn, Taylor County, Kentucky. She died 14 July 1894 in Hillsboro, Highland County, Ohio. Her parents were Thomas W. Jones (1790–unknown) and Susan Winters (1791–unknown). "Burge and Dora were married 23 April 1851; I am unsure of the location. They were the parents of Suella Enos (1853–1931), Edwin Burette (1855–1943), Ida Doris (1856–1896), Alice Mae (1858–1924), Effie Laurette (1860–1905), Arthur Burge (1862–1926), Harriet Lavinia (1864–1938), and Maggie (1865–1865)."
