He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Madison, the son of Leslie A. and Hazel A. Pangburn Byram. He was raised in Vevay. He was an executive director for 25 years for several medical institutions in New York City, including a nonprofit, church-related teaching center in the highest crime area of the country. Read More	Madison Courier---October 25, 2006 Thomas "Tom" Byram, 75, of 720 West End Ave., New York, N.Y., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at his residence. He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Madison, the son of Leslie A. and Hazel A. Pangburn Byram. He was raised in Vevay. He was an executive director for 25 years for several medical institutions in New York City, including a nonprofit, church-related teaching center in the highest crime area of the country. He also was an editor for one of the largest New York law firms for 13 years until his retirement in 2000. He had a love for genealogy and had researched genealogy for more than 40 years. He compiled three manuscripts about ancestry, one of which was lauded as the most complete study ever done of an entire family from the United States or Canada. He received local, state and national awards for his work. He appeared on television and radio programs about health care. Several newspaper and magazine articles were written about his professional and social life. He had lived in New York since 1962 and was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Copiague, N.Y. He is survived by one nephew, James Douglas "Jim" Farrar of Castle Rock, Colo.; one niece, Jeni Farrar Browning of Hopkinsville, Ky.; and five cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Norma D. Farrar, who died Nov. 15, 1997. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from noon until the service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Salvation Army.
