Description	:	Long-time Alma businessman and civic leader Thomas C. Rogers, 89, of Methodist Memorial Homes in Hodrege, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 1978 following a lengthy illness. Mr Rogers was born December 1, 1889 at Ragan where he grew up. He attended elementary school at Ragan, Kansas City and Lincoln and graduated from the Kearney Military Academy in 1909. Rogers, 89, of Methodist Memorial Homes in Hodrege, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 1978 following a lengthy illness. Mr Rogers was born December 1, 1889 at Ragan where he grew up. He attended elementary school at Ragan, Kansas City and Lincoln and graduated from the Kearney Military Academy in 1909. He attended the University of Nebraska. Mr. Rogers was united in marriage June 23, 1915 to Miss Jean McKee at her parents' home near Alma. They celebrated their sixty-third wedding anniversary this year. He was cashier at the Bank of Ragan for several years and later was associated with the McKee-Rogers Insurance Agency in Alma for 25 years. He also operated an income tax service in Alma for over 50 years. Mr. Rogers was a member of the First Christian Church in Alma where he was active as an elder and deacon for over 50 years. He was a 50-year member of both Harlan Lodge 116 A.F. and A.M. and the Tehama Shrine Temple in Holdrege. He was a member of the Alma Kiwanis Club and served on the Alma City Council, Alma School Board, Alma Hospital Board, Ragan School Board and Antelope Township Board. He was also active in the American Red Cross during WWII. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jean McKee Rogers of Holdrege; one son, Dr. Everett M. Rogers of LaJolla, CA; one daughter, Mrs. Gaylord (Barbara) Johnson of Alma; one brother William M Rogers of Orleans; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret McGeachin of Omaha and Mrs Ann Cox of Morgantown, WV and eight grandchidren. He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel R. Rogers.
