He died at his home eight miles north of this city, the day before, surrounded by his family and a few friends. It was but two weeks before he had returned from his former home in Virginia from which he received no benefit. T. C. Porter was born in Virginia January, 1855, came to Nebraska about eight years ago and died on the night of Oct. 30th, 1891. Mr. Porter has proved himself to be a man of sterling qualities, a first-class farmer, a good neighbor, a kind and loving father and a devoted husband. In the summer of last year, while endeavoring to clean out his well before having a new windmill and pump put up, he was by accident precipitated to the bottom. This fall fearfully mangled his body, but when fairly on the way to recovery he was taken down with typhoid fever, this was followed by lung fever which became chronic and resulted in his death. Mr. Porter was a Christian man and bore with great fortitude his suffering. He leaves a wife and several small children to mourn the loss of husband and father. On last Saturday afternoon funeral services were conducted at the family residence by Rev. H. A. Barton, and all that was mortal of Mr. Porter deposited in the Hamm cemetery a few miles north of this city. The funeral procession was the largest ever witnessed in that part of the county.
