Description	:	---- Cumberland Times, Cumberland, Maryland, November 22, 1940 "Thomas Charles Stakem Sr., 62, of 219 Schley street, bowling alley owner, was found dead in bed Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Stakem. Feeling ill, Mr. Stakem went to bed in the afternoon before going to work at the Savoy Bowling Alleys. Death was caused by a heart attack. A native of Ocean, Mr, Stakem was a son of the late John and Ellen Stakem. He came to Cumberland about 26 years ago. In 1910 he formed a partnership with Peter V. (?) in the Savoy Bowling Alley. Prior to that time, he operated a similar establishment in Lonaconing. Mr. Stakem was well known as a baseball player in the old P.O.M. League and later in the George's Creek League. Three of his sons have been outstanding basketball players. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic church, the Holy Name Society and the Third Order Society. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice M. (McPartland) Stakem; four sons, John J., Baltimore; Thomas C. Jr., Loyola University, Baltimore; James E., St. Francis College Loretto, Pa., Joseph F. and Robert P. Stakem, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas B. Cumiskey, and Miss Alice M. Stakem, this city; three brothers, Peter F., Lonaconing; James B., Midland; and Patrick J. Stakem, Cumberland; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Thompson and Mrs, Nellie McMahon, Midland; Mrs. Pat McGuire, Hagerstown and two grandchildren."
