Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, October 28, 1920; pg. 1 MAN FOUND DEAD The community was given a severe shock Sunday evening when the news came in that Tom Howard had been found dead out on his farm east of town. This family moved to town two weeks ago. Last Sunday he went out to the place and late in the afternoon his team came to the house alone, and upon search the man was found out in the field dead. The body was brought to town and there being no evidence of violence, the undertaker took charge of it without any inquest being held. The funeral occurred from the home in the north part of town, conducted by Rev. V.E. Shirley. Thomas Cyrus Howard was born January 10, 1863, in Wisconsin; died at Nelson October 24, 1920. He came to Nebraska in 1870, and was married December 23, 1897, to Mary Ellen McClurg. He leaves the wife, two sons, Bert and Selby, one daughter, Mrs. Opal Jorgensen, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. White, four brothers, Chas., William, Clark, and Andrew, and one grandson. The father and two brothers preceded him in death.
