Description	:	A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, April 13 at Faith Temple Church, 2121W. 33rd Street, Sioux Falls. Visitation with family will be held on Wednesday evening 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at George Boom Funeral Home, East 10th Street. Internment will be at a later date in Bismarck, ND. Tom was born in Bismarck, ND to George and Elizabeth Loretta (Lora) Brauer on June 13, 1936. Tom and his brother Michael attended church with their grandparents. Tom was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck. He attended grade school, Jr High and High School in Bismarck, graduating in 1956. Tom then attended Bismarck Jr. College for 2 years and ND State College at Fargo for 2 1/2 years graduating in May, 1961. In college Tom belonged to a Lutheran student group Gamma Delta. On April 21, 1963 Tom was united in marriage with Margaret M. Beitz at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron, SD. Tom and Margaret were blessed with a daughter, Deb and a son, Dan. Tom worked his entire career of for the Bureau of Reclamation and Dept. of Energy in Huron, SD, including 2 years in Denver, CO. In 1994 Tom retired from his position of civil engineer with the federal government after 33 years of service. Tom had worked for the Bureau of Reclamation in Huron from 1961-1965, transferred to Denver, CO for 2 1/2 years, and back to Huron in 1968. Tom was a devote believer and follower of Jesus Christ. He had a renewal by the Holy Spirit while at college. Over the years, he held membership in Zion Lutheran Church, Bismarck, Gamma Delta, Fargo, ND, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Huron; The Huron Chapter of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship, Pleasant Valley Church south of Miller, SD, First Presbyterian Church of Huron, Huron Church of the Open Bible and Faith Temple Church of Sioux Falls. He became a licensed minister with good standing in Open Bible Churches in 2000. Tom faithfully served as officers in these organizations, taught INSTE. and led a home Bible study group for many years. He and Margaret moved to Sioux Falls, SD in the Spring of 2005. The Brauers' took seven mission trips to Mexico. Tom enjoyed cruise ships and took pleasure in learning about them. The Brauers took cruise vacations for a number of years. Tom was artistic as evidenced by the number of drawings he did. He also learned calligraphy. He had an "engineer's hand". Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 53-years, Margaret (Beitz) Brauer, Sioux Falls, SD; two children: Deborah (Brian) Rice and grandchildren Elaina and Jack Rice of Brandon, SD; and Daniel (Karen) Brauer of Sioux Falls. Tom was preceded in death by his mother Loretta, his father George; younger brother Michael; two brothers-in-law: Delbert Mielke and James Beitz; two nephews: Kenneth Mielke and David Beitz, and a great-nephew, Adam McBride. —George Boom Funeral Home; Argus Leader
