Darby, president of the Poolesville Bank and widely-known Montgomery County farmer, died at the Frederick City Hospital Friday evening at 7 o'clock. He was 72 years of age. Mr. Darby suffered the attack Wednesday morning at his farm located near Seneca. He had walked to the barnyard upon hearing a report that some of his swine had escaped from their pens. He was stricken at that time and it was an hour before he could get back to the house and notify relatives, who summoned a physician. Mr. Darby was a bachelor and lived alone. He was born October 29, 1867, a son of the late Thomas D. and Elizabeth Darby. He had farmed throughout his life and was one of the most prominent agriculturalists in that section of Montgomery County, being well known and highly respected. Mr. Darby had been president of the Poolesville Bank for years. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Farmers' Bank and Trust Company at Rockville. For some years, he took an interest in farm organizations. He is survived by three brothers, Robert, New York; Joseph, Poolesville; and Harry Darby, Beallsville. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his brother, Joseph Darby. Interment in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. William B. Hilton, funeral director.
