Description	:	Thomas E. (Tommy) Hammons, 87 of Farmerville, LA formerly of Strong, AR passed away on Monday morning of June 10, 2019. Tommy was born on January 15, 1932, in the community of New London, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Hammons Norris and L.R. Hammons; his wife of 59 years, Betty Jerry Hammons; his daughter, Glinda Hammons Craig; and his two brothers, James and Charles. (Tommy) Hammons, 87 of Farmerville, LA formerly of Strong, AR passed away on Monday morning of June 10, 2019. Tommy was born on January 15, 1932, in the community of New London, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Hammons Norris and L.R. Hammons; his wife of 59 years, Betty Jerry Hammons; his daughter, Glinda Hammons Craig; and his two brothers, James and Charles. He graduated Strong High School in 1950, and served several years in the Army before settling to raise a family in New London. During the course of his life, he worked as a pipefitter on pipelines throughout the country, as a paper mill mechanic, as a tomato farmer, and lastly, as owner of Betty's Dari-Diner in Strong. He was a member of New London Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. Tommy loved the Lord, and he loved people as is evidenced by his many friends. He was truly one who "never met a stranger." An avid hunter and fisherman, Tommy loved being in the woods or on the lake, and he passed this love on to his children and grandchildren who have fond memories of time spent with him pursuing these activities. Tommy Hammons was always ready with an encouraging word, a heart-felt smile, and a good story. We will miss him. He is survived by son Ray Hammons and wife Debbie of Farmerville, LA; two grandchildren: Thomas Hammons and wife Kelly of Farmerville, LA, and Haven Sibley and husband Kevin of Colorado Springs, CO; and three great grandchildren: Mason Hammons, Scarlet Sibley, and Kate Hammons, two sisters-in-law: Sarah Hammons and Sherry Fielder and husband James, and step-granddaughter Jillian Burns and husband Blake and their daughters Isabelle and Meadow. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at the New London Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the New London Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Smith and Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Interment will be in the New London Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR. .
