Description	:	Thomas "Tom" E. Evans, 73, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born December 5, 1937 in Lancaster, Ohio to Joseph and Helen Evans. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the US Franklin D. Roosevelt. He went to barber school and worked as a barber for a short time, then worked in construction and retired from the furnace room at Anchor Hocking. Evans, 73, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011 after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born December 5, 1937 in Lancaster, Ohio to Joseph and Helen Evans. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the US Franklin D. Roosevelt. He went to barber school and worked as a barber for a short time, then worked in construction and retired from the furnace room at Anchor Hocking. Until his illiness he was part time driver for Risch Drug Store. Tom was a member of the AMVETS, Moose Lodge and Olivedale Senior Center where he enjoyed playing in the golf league. He loved playing or watching golf. In his younger years he was into his motorcycles and loved to hill climb where he won several trophies. He was a wonderful man and will be sadly missed. Tom is survived by daughter, Cheryl (Eddie) Hiles; sons, Tony (Leslie) Evans, Joey Evans (Beth Murphy) and Companion Mary Ellen Elliott; grandchildren, Natalie (Scott) Widener, Ciarra, Madeline and Kassidi Evans; great-grandchildren, Jack, Julia and Jude Widener; step-children, Arthur, Joe, Jimmy, Jody and Barbie Sisco all of Lancaster, Ohio, Rose Mary Charles of Lancaster, Ohio, Nida Berry of Grand Rapids, Ohio, Alan Sisco of Orlando, Florida; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Tracey, Mary Ann (Neal) Rudolph and Rose Smith; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Evans; sons, Tommy and Steve Stevans; brothers, Joseph and Stephen Evans. Visitations will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Lancaster, Ohio services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio with military honors. Donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in Tom's memory.
