Description	:	Thomas Edward Lawrence, son of James Lawrence and Annie (Bauerle) Lawrence, was born in Macon County, Illinois of February 21, 1877. He passed away at Portsmouth, May 22, 1954 at the age of 77 years, 3 months and one day. When he was a small child the family migrated to western Iowa settling in Shelby County near Portsmouth. There he grew to manhood and with the exception of seven years prior to 1920 spent in North Dakota, the Portsmouth community was his home until November of last year when he moved to Harlan. Early in his youth he became a member of the... Read More	Thomas Edward Lawrence, son of James Lawrence and Annie (Bauerle) Lawrence, was born in Macon County, Illinois of February 21, 1877. He passed away at Portsmouth, May 22, 1954 at the age of 77 years, 3 months and one day. When he was a small child the family migrated to western Iowa settling in Shelby County near Portsmouth. There he grew to manhood and with the exception of seven years prior to 1920 spent in North Dakota, the Portsmouth community was his home until November of last year when he moved to Harlan. Early in his youth he became a member of the First Christian church and has remained faithful during his entire life time. On November 25, 1941 he was united in marriage to Alta Howe at Fremont, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, three brothers, David L. of Portsmouth, George M. of Council Bluffs and James M. of Santa Monica, California; one sister, Mrs George Battey of Shelby, nine nephews and three nieces. One brother Samuel M. preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at Pauley's funeral home Tuesday, May 25. Bro. Horace Hinds officiated. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery.
