Description	:	Gaffney, SC - - Thomas "Tom" Edward Thompson, 73, of 1808 Beech Street, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Gaffney, he was son of the late Mary Jane Mullinax Thompson and Woodrow Thompson. Tom was retired from textiles, a self-taught mechanic, loved watching John Wayne movies and loved his sidekick and companion "Red" his doggie. Mr. Thompson was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Read More	Gaffney, SC - - Thomas "Tom" Edward Thompson, 73, of 1808 Beech Street, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Gaffney, he was son of the late Mary Jane Mullinax Thompson and Woodrow Thompson. Tom was retired from textiles, a self-taught mechanic, loved watching John Wayne movies and loved his sidekick and companion "Red" his doggie. Mr. Thompson was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church. Surviving is a sister, Nellie Mae Spencer of Gaffney; two special nieces, Susie Thompson and Traci Ervin, who cared for him for the last several years; and numerous nieces and nephews, who he loved dearly. Tom was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Lee Thompson Sr.; a sister, Betty Sue Thompson; a brother-in-law, Walter Spencer; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Faye Thompson; a nephew, Christopher Thompson; and a niece, Sandra Garland. A special thanks to long time friend, Mrs. Linda Emery who preceded him in death by four months. Linda made sure he didn't want for anything he needed. A graveside service will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Cherokee County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2223, Gaffney, SC, 29342. The family will be at their respective homes.
