Description	:	Obituary: February 24, 1876 Lawrenceburg Register Died- At the residence of D.P. Fermier, his son-in-law in Jackson Twp, February 14, 1876. Thomas Ehler, in the 80th year of his age. Mr. Ehler was born in Jonestown, Pennsylvania on the 14th day of August 1796. During the war of 1812, he enlisted in a Pennsylvania regiment. After his term of service expired he removed west, and in the year 1818 purchased his farm in Jackson Twp. where he continued to live until 1874, when failing health forced him to give up his attention to business... Mr. Ehler was born in Jonestown, Pennsylvania on the 14th day of August 1796. During the war of 1812, he enlisted in a Pennsylvania regiment. After his term of service expired he removed west, and in the year 1818 purchased his farm in Jackson Twp. where he continued to live until 1874, when failing health forced him to give up his attention to business and live with his relatives. Mr. Ehler was one of the pioneers of Jackson township, a man of noble and generous impulses, and strict integrity. He was appreciated by all who knew him, a kind and affectionate husband and father, a firm and unyielding friend. Early in life he connected himself with the Lutheran Church and lived the life of a true Christian. He was followed to his grave by a large concourse of neighbors, who for over half a century had been the recipients of his many acts of kindness, and who had learned to honor and appreciate him for the noble traits of his character. Thus are passing away one by one, the early pioneers of our country, those men of iron will and courage, that opened up the unbroken wilderness with their labor and energy, and encountered toils and sufferings unknown to their descendants.
