Feb 27, 1936 - Carroll Daily - Frank Ruddy, a resident of this county for many years, passed away at 1 o'clock this morning at the Ruddy home at 226 north west Street. Mr. Ruddy had been in poor health for the past year, but his condition was not critical until two weeks ago, when he suffered a paralytic stroke. The body will be taken to the home this evening from the Gregory Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at the St Joseph Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. Ruddy was the son of Thomas and Catherine Ruddy. He was born on Sept 22, 1862 at Bryant, Clinton county, Iowa. He received his early education at that place and in 1879 with his parents, sisters, and brothers came to Carroll County to make their home. They moved to a farm two and a half miles west of Carroll where they lived for several years. The Ruddy family then moved to Early. On August 5, 1902, Miss Elizabeth Kelly became his bride at Carroll. They had a residence here since. Mr. Ruddy had been employed in various occupations until 1914 when he entered the employee of the Chicago and Northwestern railroad company. He was retired from service on Oct. 1, 1933. Mr. and Mrs. Ruddy were the parents of five children: Mrs. Clarence McGrane (Catherine), Thomas, Misses Rose and Frances at home. One daughter died in infancy. Survivors include his wife, and children, five grandchildren, a brother, John B. Ruddy, and two sisters, Misses Anna and Rose Ruddy, all of Early. His parents and a brother preceded him in death. His sisters had been in Carroll for the past two weeks and were with their brother when he passed away.
