There had been no serious symptoms of diseases of the heart, except some shortness of breath that might be attributed to advancing years. Mr. Supple was 72 years of age. He was born December, 20, 1875 in County Cork, Ireland, one of a family of 16. He left the parental home when only 12 years of age and came to America, going to the home of his uncle, the late James Supple, at Castle Grove. Thomas Supple continued to make his home with his uncle for the next several years and attended the schools of that community. At the age of 22, he came to Temple Hill where he engaged in farming. On January 20, 1908 he was united in Holy Matrimony with Miss Sebina Finn, of that community in St. Peter's Church. To this union three daughters and two sons were born, all of whom together with his wife, survive. The children are: Mrs. Florinan (Coletta) Manternach, Temple Hill; Mrs. Joseph (Florence) Rogers, Chicago; John and Ray Supple, Temple Hill; Mr. Supple is also survived several brothers and sisters In the United States and in Ireland. After 40 years of industrious labor in their chosen vocation, Mr and Mrs. Supple retired from farm life in December 1947 to their comfortable Cascade home to enjoy a well earned rest, but the inevitable hand of death intervened. The suddenness of his death has brought great sorrow to his family. Cascade also loses from its midst a Christian gentleman whose life was an open book. His was a happy, wholesome disposition that endeared him to those with whom he came in contact. His ready wit, but above all his loyalty and friendship for his neighbors and devotion to his family, his Christian charity toward those afflicted was all reflected in the throng that paid their respects to him at the funeral home and St. Martin's Church. Funeral services were held for Thos. Supple at 9.30 o'clock Monday morning from St. Martin's Church. Msgr. M. J. Farrelly, celebrated a Requiem High Mass. Msgr. Farrelly was also his former pastor at Temple Hill. Assisting at Monday's Mass were Rev. James Supple, a relative, of Ames, Iowa, and Rev Eugene Lorenz, of Monticello, also a former pastor at Temple Hill. Fr William Roach, assistant pastor of St. Martin's, delivered an appropriate sermon on the devotion of Mr. Supple to the gift of faith. Fr. Supple conducted the burial service in Calvary cemetery, assisted by Fr. Roach. It could well be said of him- None knew him but to love him None knew him but to praise. Relatives present from a distance were, his brother, Mr. John Supple, his wife and son, Francis, of Chicago, his brother, Pat Supple, his wife and two sons and one daughter of Atchison, Kansas; Mrs. James Supple, Chicago, Ill; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rogers, two sons and one daughter, Chicago, and many other relatives from Ryan, Castle Grove, Monticello and Temple Hill. Honorary pall bearers were Wm. McQuillen, Henry Hughes, Clarence Foulks, W. J. Drummond, Victor Beringer, Austin Alexander, Gene Fagan, John Leibold. Active pall bearers were; Chas. Keating, Herbert Orr, Ted Wolfe, Bernard Keating, Francis Supple, Wm. O'Connell, Joe Bisenlus, Joe McCorrmick. Requiescat en pace! Devaney Funeral Home had charge of the funeral arrangements. Additional information: Thomas' daughter Marguerite was omitted from the list of daughters.
