He was born on March 11, 1926 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Thomas Elwood and Velma May (Fairbanks) Ogden. He graduated from Chanute High School in the Class of 1944. Read More	******************************** Published Dec. 11, 2009 - Chanute, KS Thomas Franklin Ogden, 83, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Chanute Health Care Center. He was born on March 11, 1926 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Thomas Elwood and Velma May (Fairbanks) Ogden. He graduated from Chanute High School in the Class of 1944. Thomas served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 on the USS Lander. He was united in marriage to Betty Colleen Blakely on August 12, 1944 in Fredonia, KS. She survives. Thomas was a police officer with the Chanute Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant in 1976 after twenty-seven years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a Lifetime member of the American Legion, the V.F.W. and the BPOE. He enjoyed stock car racing, camping, and being with his family. Along with his wife Betty, Thomas is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Ogden and Cathy Sue Ogden, both of Chanute, KS; two sons, Thomas Eugene Ogden and wife Kathy of Columbia, MO, and James Darryl Ogden and wife Janet; grandchildren, Kori Ogden Owens of Columbia, MO, Kelly Ogden Hanes of Columbia, MO, Aaron Thomas Bullard of Booneville, MO, Thomas Matthew Ogden of Columbia, MO, Kristan (Ogden) Goeringer of Chanute, KS, Cody Ogden of Troy, KS, and Betsy Ogden of Erie, KS; and great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Michael Bullard of Booneville, MO, Aubrey and Josselyn Hanes of Columbia, MO, Ryan Norton of Columbia, MO and Addison Ogden of Columbia, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Louise Kirby; and a brother, James M. Ogden. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel in Chanute. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas. Memorials in his name may be made to Chanute Health Care or Hospice of Kansas and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. *************************
