Per the 1900 census, he was born in October 1863. Per his death certificate, he was born October 17, 1869. The date of birth on the death certificate could not be correct since he was married to Alice Elliott on August 22, 1880 - if he had been born in 1869, he would have been 11 years old in 1880. His death certificate lists place of birth as McDowell County, NC, but it is believed that he was born in Lincoln County, NC since he was living with his parents in Lincoln County at the time of the 1870 Census. The family of Thomas did move to McDowell County sometime between the 1870 Census and the 1880 Census. Thomas was living with his parents, in McDowell County, NC at the time of the 1880 Census – June 1, 1880. He married Alice Elliott on August 22, 1880 in McDowell County, NC. Thomas was married twice: (1) He married Alice (Sarah Alice) Elliott on August 22, 1880 in McDowell County, NC. The parents of Thomas were listed as J.M. Williams and Francis Williams. (2) He married Mintie (Arrie or Ara Mintie) Connor on February 3, 1900 in McDowell County, NC. The parents of Thomas were listed as Marcus Williams and Fannie Williams. Both marriages of Thomas are recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds, McDowell County, NC. Thomas and Alice had seven known children: Nora, Hattie, John Marvin, Joseph Edgar and Luther Grayson (twins), Dora Alice and Thomas Roy. Thomas and Mintie had five known children: Alvin J., Lawrence Otis, Lathan, Lillie Mae and Ralph Harold. Thomas and his family were living in Marion, McDowell County, NC at the time of the 1900 Census. Sometime between the 1900 Census and the 1910 Census, Thomas moved his family to Rutherford County. The family was living at Caroleen (High Shoal Township), Rutherford County, NC at the time of the 1910 Census and the 1920 Census. Thomas died January 7, 1924 at Caroleen, Rutherford County, NC. His wife, Ara ( aka Arrie Mintie) survived him.
