Obituary Frederick Post - June 6, 1987 Mr. Thomas Gordon Darby Sr., 74, of 15225 Partnership Road, Poolesville, died Thursday, June 4 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. He was the husband of Maude G. Darby. Born in Poolesville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Chiswell Darby. Mr. Darby was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Monocacy Lions Club and the Darnestown Presbyterian Church. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Thomas Gordon Darby Jr. of Poolesville, and Mary Jo Morris, of California. Also surviving are three sisters, Reno Penn, of Clinton, Ethel Herrmann of Silver Spring, and Lutie Cult of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Pala Schrader, Alita Darby, Mahlen Morris, Thomas Darby III, and Clark Morris; one great grandchild, Steven Darby. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 6 and Sunday June 7 at the Hilton Funeral Home, 22111 Beallsville Road, Barnesville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday June 8 at Darnestown Presbyterian Church, Route 28, Darnestown. Interment will be in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Darnestown Presbyterian Church, 15120 Turkey Foot Road, Gaithersburg, Md. 20878.
