Evans, who lost his life in an automobile accident Thursday night near Central City, were conducted Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at 2 o'clock at the First Methodist church, by the Rev. Walter L. Jewett, minister. Mrs. J. D. Dally was organist and vocal duets were sung by Mrs. R. L. Fishbach and Mrs. C. A. Lederer. Mr. Evans, who was owner of the Evans Auditing company here, was born Nov. 13, 1888, in Dedham, Ia., and spent his early boyhood at that place (note: year incorrect according to birth records). His parents later moved to Canada but returned to Dedham where Mr. Evans was graduated from high school. He then taught school for a time and later attended Boyle's Business college in Omaha. In 1909, he came to Norfolk, where he was employed as an auditor for the Iowa-Nebraska Light and Power company, the Farmers' elevator and for twelve years was employed by the old Fair store. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Marie Podoll, Aug. 15, 1912. Mr. Evans went into business for himself in 1925, establishing the Evans Auditing company, a business which took him to all parts of the state. He was enroute to Stratton to engage in some auditing business when the fatal accident occurred. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Vern, Wesley, and Robert, and a daughter, Betty Anne, a brother, Morgan Evans, of Coon Rapids, Ia., and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Wilson Sac City, Ia., and Miss Jennie Evans of Dedham. Out-of-town relatives and friends here for the services included Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Evans and daughter, Marie, and son, William of Coon Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson, Sac City, Miss Jennie Evans, Dedham; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Heckner and son, Robert, Sac City; Mr. and Mrs. Venus Rublow and family, Wausa; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Andersen and family, Pierce; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Neitzke and family, Hoskins; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Podoll and son, Winside; Mr. and Mrs. William Podoll, Bushnell, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoffman and son, Car, York; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Duda, Omaha; and Mrs. Effie Joslassen and Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Hupp, Bloomfield. Pallbearers were H. L. Fishbach, Allen Kuhn, Gus Dietz, George Surber, F. Z. McGinnis, and G. W. McGee. Burial was in Prospect Hill cemetery.
