Description	:	Death of One of Licking County's Pioneers. At the residence of F. O. Chrysler in Fredonia, Sunday morning, May 23d, at half past six, Thomas Horton, aged 91 years and three months. He was born in West Haven, Ruthland County, Vt., February 14, 1795. He came to this State in 1833 and settled in Granville township where he remained three years, then removed to Fredonia where he has lived until called to his final home. He was twice married. Chrysler in Fredonia, Sunday morning, May 23d, at half past six, Thomas Horton, aged 91 years and three months. He was born in West Haven, Ruthland County, Vt., February 14, 1795. He came to this State in 1833 and settled in Granville township where he remained three years, then removed to Fredonia where he has lived until called to his final home. He was twice married. The first time to Mary Carter, daughter of Captain Jonah Carter, a revolutionary soldier; the second time to Mrs. A. F. Green, a grand daughter of elder John Leland. He raised a large family of children, nine of whom with his second wife and large numbers of grand children and great grand childdren are still living to cherish his memory. He was a man of good abilities, possessing fine business talents accompanied by strict integrity, and uprightness in all his dealings with others. He united with the Baptist church in Vermont when quite young, and was for nearly half a century a member of the Baptist church in Fredonia, serving them for quite a number of years as decon, much esteemed and respected. He was kind and affectionate in his family, remarkably patient and forbearing under injuries-always chosing to suffer wrong rather than to retaliate. A firm believer in the Bible he was never better pleased than when discussing some of its truths with his friends. He was born during Washington's administration, and cast his first vote for Madison for President, always voting with the Whigs till they were merged with the Republican party, his last vote being cast for Blaine. He volunteered when about 19 years of age to go with the company of malitia to which he belonged, to Plattsburg to resist the British.
