Foy died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Hughes Friday morning of last week. The date of his ill health goes back to sometime in November, 1914, when his glove caught in a set screw in the machinery of the Beckman and Schroeder elevator and this pulled his arm around the machinery and he fell to the floor. His right arm was rendered useless from the accident. He was also injured internally and from the time of the accident his health failed very fast. He consulted speacialists in Chicago and Des Moines and something over five weeks ago went to Rochester, Minnesota and consulted the Mayos there. Upon returning he went to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bert Hughes to spend the night and never was able to get home again. The funeral was from Assumption Church Monday morning at ten o'clock being conducted by Rev. Veit. The interment was made in St. John's cemetery. Thomas J. Foy was born in Morris Illinois, December 25th, 1862. When only a small boy he came to this county with his parents and with them lived on a farm a short distance northwest of the present town of Emmetsburg. Here he grew to manhood. In 1882 he went to Rhinelander, Wisconsin and resided there for 11 years. On May 22, 1888 he was united in marriage in this city to Miss Ellen Donovan (note: daughter of Mr. & Mrs. John Donovan). They continued to reside in (note: Rhinelander, WI) Wisconsin until 1893 when they came to Emmetsburg and this has been their home ever since. Upon returning to Emmetsburg he entered the employ of Beckman and Schroeder and continued in their employ until the time of his last sickness. He was a very faithful employee and always worked in the interest of his employers. Their interest was his and for 23 years he served them faithfully and to their entire satisfaction. He was a good father and husband and his home life was his chief enjoyment and his best consideration was aways (sic) given his family. He leaves to mourn his death, his devoted wife, two sons, Irving (note: foreman at the Emmetsburg Tribune office) and Gerald (note: at home) and one daughter, Mrs. bert Hughes. Two brothers, T. W. Foy of Larned, Kansas and E. J. Foy (note: Edward of the firm of Foy & Wilcox) of this city and one sister, Miss Teresa Foy also survive him. These have the sympathy of all in their deep sorrow.
